Hi, this is a very simple readme.

"photos.it" is a sample file which uses "photos.ih" to create
multiple html pages and thumbnails for a directory tree of images.
This "photo album" can contain html comments for a directory as well
as comments for individual files.

"out\photos.htm" is the entry page for the sample album.

The header file "photos.ih" is the main component and this uses (as
is) the ppwizard add-ons "ftplike" and "thumbnails".

To create thumbnails a free product called "ImageMagick", from it's
readme:

ImageMagick client executables are available for some platforms.
    See:

      ftp://ftp.wizards.dupont.com/pub/ImageMagick/binaries
      ftp://ftp.wizards.dupont.com/pub/ImageMagick/mac
      ftp://ftp.wizards.dupont.com/pub/ImageMagick/nt
      ftp://ftp.wizards.dupont.com/pub/ImageMagick/vms
      ftp://ftp.wizards.dupont.com/pub/ImageMagick/linux

You could easily "tweek" the sample not to create thumnails but just
to use "IMG" tag height & width attributes to downsize the image if
you just want to test the header out.
Of course thumnail size and quality are also items you may wish to
tweek.

The sample as is creates thumbnails and a small html page for each
image, you don't have to do this. The look an feel for the small html
page is completely up to you so it can have your sites look and feel.
Just about everything on the directory html pages are also capable of
customisation.

This add-on was tested in WINDOWS 2000, I expect that if any change
was required for OS/2 it would be very minor.

I also expect that minor changes would be required for UNIX/LINUX,
these could be in any of the 3 add-ons.
UNIX uses forwards slashes for filenames while most others use "\",
I normally use "<?DirSlash>" where required however I could easily
have forgotten one or two somewhere.
The other major mistake I've probably made is with filecase, if so
sorry..
If someone reports problems with enough detail then I will correct
these issues. Better yet if a before and after patch version of the
file was sent to me...
Note that the sample IT file will require minor tweeks.

The "out" directory tree contains files that "photos.ih" generated (one
html page per directory, one html page and thumnail per image).

The "SAMPLE.IMG" directory contains a small sample of images in 3
directory as well as some comment related files.

I have orgainised the images and output for this sample so that
it can use the one directory setup for both the creation of the
web files as well as local testing in the browser
(no separate web image).

The sample IT file was "compiled" with a command similar to:

    ppwizard photos.it /output:out\*.htm

In my case I upload all my files to the website while translating the
case to lower case, for this reason I would like all internal links
to use the correct case so a better command line in my case would be:

    ppwizard photos.it /output:out\*.htm /FileNames:Lower

Of course I have to be careful about the case when defining
"FTPLIKE_DIRECTORY_WEB" and similar entries also!

Currently the directory names need to be in the correct case, I
will fix this in a future release.
I believe this is only a problem on non-unix systems where case
translation has been requested (and then the files are placed onto
a case sensitive Unix box for web access.

I have noticed that Netscape 6 does not show the ALT based tooltips
on IMG tags, I will investigate this (if changed to "TITLE" it
works - strange.

I have also noticed that Netscape does not handle long tooltips very
well and CRLF pairs not at all.
As the use of tooltips and their format is completely up to you I'm
not worried about this. An alternative approach might be a 2 column
table, thumbnail in one and details in another.

Let me know if I've forgotten anything...
