The Sheboleth are a powerful race of creatures rumored to have
been brought to the prime material planes long ago by a cult of
demon summoners who let them loose upon their world in the
foolish hope that these creatures could be controled. Preferring
to dwell underground, Sheboleth will sometimes venture intoi
forests in search of food. Though rather unintelligent, they
have excellent senses, able to use infravision at up to 90',
and they are able to track prey by scent alone with 50% accuracy.
Though they have ravenous appetites, they often prefer to torture
their prey before eating it, particularly with intelligent
creatures, and they have been known to chew off various
extremities and then tie up their victim, saving the rest for
later.

Their first four attacks are claw attacks (3d6/3d6/d8/d8). The
last attack is a bite attack (d12) which is actually caused by
two distinct sets of jaws. Furthermore, they regenerate d6 points
per round. They are capable of spitting acid (as a 6th attack)
three times for 2d8 damage (after which they need an hour to
"recharge" this attack).

When struck by edged weapons, their blood tends to splatter. It
is a sticky, yellowish acid which causes d10 points on contact.
Characters in close (melee) proximity to the creature during any
round in which it is struck by an edged weapon must save vs
paralyzation of suffer this damage.

The Sheboleth are not capable of procreation in any tradition
sense, however, when one is dismembered to any significant extent
(such as a full appendage being severed), there is the
possibility (20%) of it growing into a new member of the species.
It is presumed that this is how they multiply. They are immune to
most forms of acid, but they may be burnt to death (and, indeed,
this is the way in which they are usually killed).

They have no society and no language of their own. Occasionally,
however, they are charmed by evil mages and used as bodyguards.
